Day Three Recap of the 2022 Mustang World Series

Game Nine: Smithfield, VA 1, Laredo, TX 5


Although a lower-scoring game, Laredo, TX was able to outscore Smithfield, VA to win 5-1.


Laredo took the lead early in the first inning. They scored on a passed ball and a single to be up 2-0.


Scoring stalled until the bottom of the fourth, when Smithfield got on the scoreboard. With a runner stealing second, a single made it a 2-1 game.


A passed ball in the top of the second advanced Laredo’s lead to 3-1.


Two singles in the top of the sixth gave Laredo the win with a final score of 5-1.

Game Ten: LaPorte, TX 1, Erath, LA 11


Erath, LA beat LaPorte, TX in five innings with a score of 11-1.


Erath got out ahead early, scoring a run on a double by Manning Lege and two runs on a single by Easton Domingue.


They expanded their lead to 5-0 in the top of the third inning. Erath scored on a ground out and another double by Manning Lege.


In the top of the fourth, Erath scored five runs.  After scoring on an error, a single made it quickly a 7-0 game. After a hit by pitch, a walk and a single made it a commanding 10-0 game in Erath’s favor.


LaPorte’s only run came from advancing to third on an error and then scoring on the error.


A single in the top of the fifth gave Erath the 11-1 win

Game Eleven: Orange, CA 10, Laredo, TX 0


Coming off of two big wins, Orange, CA continued its streak with a no-hitter against Laredo, TX.


Orange was already coming up big in the bottom of the first inning. A double started the scoring, but a ground out and two singles gave them a 4-0 lead.


A single in the bottom of the second inning scored a run and set up a two-run home run by Joe Velazquez, extending their lead to 7-0.


Two more singles in the bottom of the third scored three runs, making it a 10-0 game.


Seth Windsor, Joe Velazquez and Joshua Perez split time on the mound for the no-hitter.

Game Twelve: Erath, LA 0, Tijuana, MX 25


Tijuana, MX beat Erath, LA in just four innings, scoring 11 in the top of the fourth.


Tijuana’s offense started off slower, scoring runs on a single and a ground out to take a 2-0 lead.


In the top of the second inning, they scored nine runs, making it difficult for Erath to stay in the game. Tijuana’s bats were hot, as they scored on five doubles and a triple to left field by Randall Simon. Their ninth run came from a hit by pitch, making the score 11-0.


A single and a pop fly scored two more runs for Tijuana, but a double play by Erath held them to a 14-0 score.


Tijuana ran away with the game in the top of the fifth, scoring 11 runs. Six runs came from five singles, with a seventh run coming from stealing home. A double by David Cipres followed by another triple from Randall Simon made the final score 25-0, with Erath unable to make up any ground in the bottom of the fourth.
